Around 3:30 or 4 every afternoon the little girls in our neighborhood empty out into our giant communal backyard to play. Despite the collective number of bikes, trikes, balls, toys, trampolines and sand tables, the kids are bored about 10 minutes after getting outside. So last Tuesday, inspired by a project my friend Lauren and her girls did, I decided we could make leis. After all, we have all of these plumeria trees around the house, leafless, but still flowering.

Grace was really into threading the flowers, and she managed not to put the needle through her finger. So, yay for projects that take up 30 minutes of time. And yes, once we were done the girls were all bored. Again.
